While no formal vote was taken during the meeting, ACIP members expressed their endorsement of the revised recommendations.<\/p><ul><li>An additional dose of an updated COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for adults aged 65+ and immunocompromised individuals.<\/li><li>The original monovalent mRNA vaccines are no longer recommended.<\/li><li>Everyone aged 6+ should receive an updated mRNA vaccine, even if they have completed their (monovalent) primary series.<\/li><li>Young children should receive multiple doses, depending on their age and previous vaccinations.<\/li><li>Alternatives such as Novavax or Johnson &amp; Johnson&#8217;s Janssen vaccine are available for those who can&#8217;t receive mRNA vaccines.<\/li><\/ul><p>The CDC and \u00a0Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) will continue to monitor the levels of COVID-19 disease and vaccine effectiveness in the coming months, and anticipate further discussions about potential updates in the fall.<\/p><p>Vaccination is the key to protecting ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities against COVID-19. These updated recommendations provide additional protection for those who need it most and help us move closer to ending this pandemic.
